FACEBOOOO #17
Gerald Andal! Ok, so Gerald rules. He was in the year under mine in the design program at USC, and churns out some really awesome work! Just check his youtube page! This kinda looks like him. I also always think it’s kind of a bummer we’ve never played video games together. Why can’t Nintendo make a system that can actually handle playing online? WHY?!
On a side note, I’m starting something different with these. Instead of just drawing them on the back of the comic I made the day before, I’m going to start drawing them on bristol paper. So maybe I’ll go back and re-draw some of the bad ones!

Thanks again, Sam!

My Super Famicom controller came in the mail!

I stopped by my favorite retro gaming store again and bought 9 awesome games.

  • Super Mario World (I know)
  • Cybernator
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • TMNT IV: Turtles In Time
  • Star Fox
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • Strider
  • Comix Zone
  • X-Men 2: Clone Wars

See ya Monday.

My knock off SNES controller was feeling a little too light and the buttons felt really “squishy”— so I made it more solid by stuffing it with a sheet of foam, three nickels, and an old key. There, I fixed it.

Growing up, I never had a Super Nintendo. When I was in third grade, my mom gave me a choice between getting a Genesis or a Super Nintendo for my birthday—and I went Sega.

To this day, I still love my Genesis, but part of me regrets opting out for the other great(er) 16-bit machine. But all of this changed just two days ago, when I stepped into my favorite local gaming store and saw this sitting on the counter. I give you the Hyperkin Supaboy!

I remember Kotaku wrote an article about the Supaboy coming out this summer, but I never thought I’d see (only) one available at some hole-in-the-wall store in Mt. Pleasant. And these things are normally sold at $60-$80, but the sales clerk was selling it for a measly 40 bucks! Not bad!

The one gripe I have with it (which the sales clerk was kind enough to show me) is that the screen gives off a high-pitch sound when I turn it on. But I think I’ve played enough to the point that I’m used to it.

But what makes this even better is that I can hook up some AV cables to a TV, plug in an actual SNES controller, and play it as a LEGIT home console! It also plays Japanese/Super Famicom games! And I’ve heard that the Super Scope and Mario Paint mouse will even work with this.

Plain and simple: I FREAKING LOVE THIS THING!
